A message from the Chair and Co-President

A message from the Chair and Co-President Jenness Moffatt and Co-President Dan Ward

Dear Members:

Welcome to the newly redesigned MASS website! We’re starting a new school year, and
we’d like to take a moment to remind you of the many supports available to you through
your membership in the Manitoba Association of School Superintendents.
First and foremost is the opportunity to network and learn from our colleagues. This is
perhaps the most important role of our association and one of which we hope you will
take full advantage. We have a lot of new members who are also new to their role, and
we want to remind you there is a lot of wisdom and experience amongst our
membership and we’re all here to help each other. Please don’t hesitate to reach out
when you have a question or are facing an unfamiliar or high-risk situation.

Chances are someone in our association has dealt with something similar in the past.
On this website you will also find a variety of resources meant to support you as a
school superintendent. Please browse through the resources and publications, noting
the stories that highlight the excellent work done by school divisions. There is a lot of
learning in those articles and through sharing, we are making our entire public
education system stronger. If you have a story with learning outcomes that would
benefit our membership, please let us know by contacting the MASS office.
As we settle into the new school year the association will be continuing its work on our
strategic plan. Much of the work has been done and we’re now applying what we have
learned through this process to the functionality of our association. Look for this to be a
key topic of discussion as we come together this year.

Thank you to all our members and those who have been very active in the work
required to keep MASS focused and moving forward leading learning in Manitoba.
Public education is a cornerstone of a flourishing society, and your leadership is
essential for its success.

Respectfully,
Co-Presidents Jenness Moffatt and Dan Ward
